About the event
The “Upstarts” concert series is a local music initiative by The Bowl which offers young and emerging bands a creative platform that celebrates and encourages original music in a safe and inclusive environment.
The Australian music industry ecosystem is rapidly collapsing, accelerated by a sanitized culture that rewards conformity and nostalgia over originality and experimentation, so The Bowl is doing their part to help young bands reverse this trend by hosting a gig which places a premium on original content.
Newcastle indie quintet Rhodes headlines the inaugural event with local supports Suburban Stereo (making their public debut), Overdrive, and William Corrigan kicking things off at 6:30.
